Tell us about your roots. What has guided you to be the person you are today?

I was raised in Portland, OR with the extended family roots from Oklahoma. We were close with both sides of my grandparents and would visit for a month or so there every summer. I would say at the core of it, my roots are embedded in deep love and appreciation of the natural world which comes from traditions in both places, and also a strong affinity of cooking/eating/sharing meals/laughing/enjoying time with a large boisterous family (I come from an immediate family of 6).

What returns you to these roots?

Cooking for family and anyone else I can cook for :), prioritizing having friends and family over to just share time together casually, camping, seeking out peaceful natural spaces.., choosing to surround myself with people who have a good sense of humor and salt of the earth spirit.

Nourishment

What are your favorite ways to nourish your body?

Clean, delicious, flavorful simple home-cooked foods… A LOT of fruits and vegetables. I’m a huge fan of vegetable stir fry’s, root vegetables medley’s, roasted chicken, wild rice and vegetable salads, a good pot of beans (always soaked/sprouted), simple but hearty is my favorite way of eating/nourishing my body. And shared with people I love as often as I can.

What’s always in your kitchen?

Tons of vegetables and fruits, healthy but salted nuts and chips for snacking, lean meats, and fish.
